about

"Prólogo" (Prologue) is, as its name indicates, the introduction to a story. This introduction, however, already contains a narrative, abandoning the simple nature of "preview note" and representing the beginning of a story that will continue and that aspires to be great. It is through this perspective, this early expectation, that one can hear this debut album of Antonio Quintino. An introduction to his music, that already contains elements that define him as a bassist as well as a composer.
In 2011, influenced by the likes of Dave Holland, Kenny Wheeler, André Fernandes and others, Quintino began to write some of the tunes that make up this album, during his passage by the National Superior Conservatory of Paris, bringing most of this repertoire to Lisbon. Then, he joined in musicians with whom he had been working frequently - André Santos and Joel Silva, adding Gianni Gagliardi, a saxophonist met in Paris and with whom he immediately identified. They worked on his music together, in embryo, which evolved and took the shape that one can hear in "Prólogo".
So, "Prólogo" is a short story within a large, important history for being the first and leaving contextualized everything that is to come.
